Commercial gas

Gas pressure testing and purging

Before new or altered gas pipework goes into use it must be tested for soundness and purged of air. We carry out both safely and record the results.

What is a gas tightness test?

A pressure, or tightness, test checks that gas pipework does not leak. It is carried out on new installations, after alterations and when a leak is suspected.

What is purging?

Purging safely removes air from new pipework and replaces it with gas, or removes gas from pipework before work begins. It must be done in a controlled way by a competent, Gas Safe registered engineer.
